Love Is A Verb by John Mayer

Love is a verb
It ain’t a thing
It’s not something you hold
It’s not something you scream

When you show me love
I don’t need your words
Yeah love ain’t a thing
Love is a verb
Love ain’t a thing
Love is a verb

Love ain’t a crutch
It ain’t an excuse
No you can’t get through love
On just a pile of IOUs

Love ain’t a drug
Despite what you’ve heard
Yeah love ain’t a thing
Love is a verb
Love ain’t a thing
Love is a verb

So you gotta show, show, show me
Show, show, show me
Show, show, show me
That love is a verb

So you gotta show, show, show me
Show, show, show me
Show, show, show me
That love is a verb

Love ain’t a thing
Love is a verb

I have just heard this song and I fuckin love it

  1. I have not listened yet – just read – it was perfect.

Thank you for finding this because it was what I never did manage to be able to express in any way I could or would be heard or understood but you know it is what I had missed all along.

It is what you have demonstrated to me from day one – you showed me and I understood.

    • this is a guy that has impressed me/amazed me since day 1. He won the grammy the first year out and I personally had forgotten about him for a while, one of my students turned me on to this recording and I was so happy he did. L. knows more of his music than I do but I will catch up quickly.

My wordpress friend “L” reblogged this, and I shall too. I find it hard to know whether I can love, or whether indeed I do love. But I do know or understand love is about action… and this I do my best with people I care most about. I have quite a few of John Mayer’s albums… thank you for reminding me it is time to listen to them again… Thank you for reminding me that even if I am unsure about love, I can make people feel loved.
